Small Business Administration Launches New Program for Women

The U.S. Small Business Administration launched a free learning platform for women entrepreneurs on January 11, 2021. Ascent is designed for women business owners looking to grow and scale their ventures. Ascent is comprised of five modules called journeys that are broken down into small topics called excursions. The platform tracks the progress through the modules.

The five journeys are:

  • Disaster and Economic Recovery;
  • Strategic Marketing;
  • Your People;
  • Your Business Financial Strategy; and
  • Access to Capital.

  Some of the topics include:

  • How to write job descriptions;
  • How to mitigate disaster risks;
  • Competition identification and analysis;
  • Developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); and
  • Preparing and delivering a funding pitch.

The SBA is planning to launch additional journeys in the future. To access the platform, go to Ascent.
