Tom is admitted to practice in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, and the District of Columbia, as well as the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.  Tom regularly practices in state and federal courts and in numerous administrative bodies at all levels of government.

Following graduation from law school, Tom moved to Washington, D.C., where he represented clients in international and domestic matters.  Of note, Tom represented international companies in litigation and compliance related to their operations through Latin America, worked on an internal investigation of a Big Four accounting firm related to the 2008 financial crisis, and participated in the litigation related to a Spanish financial institution failing to fulfill its fiduciary duties in selecting investment opportunities for its clients.  The latter case took him to Brussels, Belgium where he worked with a team of American and European attorneys.

Tom returned to Mobile in 2012 and now represents businesses, labor organizations, and health and pension plans, as well as individuals with their varied legal needs.  After six years at a regional law firm, Tom opened Loper Law LLC in 2018.  Loper Law LLC has allowed Tom to expand his practice and, in addition to his work in labor and employment law, he is now better able to represent individuals and small businesses on their unique business issues.  Loper Law LLC has continued to carefully and selectively grow under Tom’s guidance.

Tom is often called to speak to professional and civic groups on current legal issues and encourages his clients to stay current on the issues facing them.  He is also active in legal and community groups.  Legal groups in which he is involved include the Alabama State Bar, the Mississippi Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Mobile Bar Association, the  Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association, the Labor and Employment Section of the Alabama State Bar, and the Union Lawyer’s Alliance of the A.F.L.-C.I.O.  Community groups to which Tom is involved include the Port City Pacers running club, former President of the Mobile Chapter of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
